K-3 Marriage Visa
K-3 Visa: Spouses of United States citizens
The K-3 visa is used by spouses of United States Citizens to enter the United States to await the approval of their permanent residence application. Unlike the K-1, the holder of a K-3 visa may travel outside of the US without first obtaining special permission (advance parole). Although technically a nonimmigrant visa, it works more like an immigrant visa. If a K-3 visa holder wishes to work in the U.S. while his/her permanent residence application is pending then he/she will have to apply for work authorization, which is generally granted within 90 days.
